How to Install Redis on Windows 8.1 and Configure PHP Support

1. Open the URL: http://redis.io/download ,

Windows
The Redis project does not officially support Windows. However, the Microsoft Open Technologies group develops and maintains a Redis build for Windows 64-bit. See Figure 1.

2. By clicking Learn more, the URL links to: https://github.com/MSOpenTech/redis

As prompted, you can download the latest binaries at http://github.com/MSOpenTech/redis/releases. See Figure 2.

3. Download the latest version of the binary: Redis-x64-2.8.2104.msi

The installation steps are as follows:

4. Install the Redis extension for PHP

Download php_redis.dll from the official PHP website

5. Install the phpRedisAdmin client: https://github.com/ErikDubbelboer/phpRedisAdmin

Execute: php composer.phar create-project -s dev erik-dubbelboer/php-redis-admin phpRedisAdmin

An error occurs, as shown in Figure 16:

Warning: This development build of composer is over 60 days old. It is recommend
ed to update it by running “composer.phar self-update” to get the latest version

6. Execute: composer.phar self-update to download the latest version of composer.phar. See Figure 17.

7. Clear the files inside phpRedisAdmin, then execute again: php composer.phar create-project -s dev erik-dubbelboer/php-redis-admin phpRedisAdmin. See Figures 18 and 19.

8. Open: http://localhost/phpredisadmin/, and you will find that the installation was successful.

8. Install the Redis Desktop Manager client: http://redisdesktop.com/download
Download the Windows version. See Figure 20.
