🧭 1. Background: Why I Started Reaching Out to Carbon Ads (BuySellAds)

As the traffic to my blog (shuijingwanwq.com) has gradually stabilized, I began exploring higher-quality ad networks to optimize the site’s monetization structure.

Among the various ad platforms, I chose to try:

Carbon Ads (an ad network under BuySellAds)

The main reasons include:

  • Targets a high-quality audience of developers / designers
  • Higher ad quality, not traditional display ads
  • CPM is more stable compared to AdSense
  • Better suited for technical blogs

📩 2. First Contact: Carbon Ads Introductory Email

The core information in the email includes:

  • Carbon Ads targets two core audiences:
    • Creators (designers & business professionals)
    • Developers
  • Starting CPM is around $6
  • First-time advertisers typically have a quarterly budget of around $18,000+
  • The network has a screening mechanism for publisher content quality
  • Provides an entry point to schedule a meeting

📅 3. Meeting Scheduling Process

I selected the following via the official link:

  • Time: 2026-07-03 03:00 AM CST (UTC+8)
  • Platform: Zoom
  • Meeting duration: 30 minutes

📧 4. Meeting Confirmation Email and Zoom Information

The system automatically generated:

  • Zoom meeting link
  • Meeting ID
  • Passcode
  • Scheduled time (03:00 AM CST)

⚠️ 5. Key Issue: Email Went to Spam + Information Gap

A critical issue occurred during the actual process:

❗ Figure 7: Full time range in the spam email

Figure 7: Showing the meeting time as 03:00 - 03:30
Figure 7: Showing the meeting time as 03:00 – 03:30

Because the email went to the spam folder:

  • I did not see the full meeting time range immediately
  • I only confirmed the full time window later on
  • This led to a misjudgment of the meeting status

🧭 6. Actual Meeting Process (Timeline Correction)

The corrected actual sequence of events is as follows:

  • 03:00 → I joined the Zoom meeting link
  • 03:00–03:20 → Waited continuously, but the host never came online
  • 03:20 → Determined there might be an issue (delay/link problem)
  • 03:23 → Sent an email to confirm the meeting status

💬 7. Communication Record Summary

📌 My Email (03:23)

Core content:

  • Had joined the meeting link
  • Did not see any participants
  • Requested confirmation of whether I was in the correct room
  • Stated I could join at any time

📌 Their Reply

The other party explained:

  • The meeting was not saved to her calendar
  • She was in back-to-back meetings at the time
  • Proposed to reschedule next week

🧠 8. Key Retrospective: The True Root Cause

The core of this issue was not a single-point error, but an overlap of multiple information gaps:

1️⃣ Email Went to Spam

→ Led to a delay in reading the complete meeting information

2️⃣ Time Window Was Not Fully Understood (03:00–03:30)

→ Led to a misjudgment of the meeting status

3️⃣ Their Calendar Failed to Sync

→ The meeting did not result in an effective execution reminder

⚠️ 9. Important Correction (Key Insight)

Even after seeing the spam email later, the meeting itself could not be “salvaged”:

Because the other party did not enter a meeting state at the execution level (calendar not synced)

👉 In other words:
The problem was not “missing the meeting,” but rather “the meeting was never truly synced and executed by both parties”

📌 10. Unexpectedly Valuable Information in the Spam Email

Although the email went to the spam folder, it contained very important preparation tips:

“To get the most out of this call…”

Three Core Preparation Questions:

  • What are your main campaign goals?
  • Where have you found success in the past?
  • Who is your ideal audience?

🚀 11. The Practical Value of This Content

These three questions are critical:

👉 They effectively constitute the standard business evaluation framework for Carbon Ads / BuySellAds

This means evaluating:

  • Whether it is worth running ads
  • Whether the traffic is a match
  • Whether it possesses advertising value

🧭 12. Current Progress Status

The overall progress so far is:

  • ✔ Initial application completed
  • ✔ System scheduling completed
  • ✔ Email communication completed
  • ✔ Meeting anomaly occurred (explained)
  • ✔ The other party has proposed a reschedule
  • ⏳ Waiting for the next round of meetings

🧠 13. Full Retrospective Conclusion

This incident was fundamentally:

A meeting failure caused by the overlap of “email system + calendar sync + time window misunderstanding”

However, the overall outcome is positive:

  • ✔ Have entered the official BuySellAds communication channel
  • ✔ Have not lost the opportunity for collaboration
  • ✔ Have entered the reschedule phase
  • ✔ Obtained a real campaign evaluation framework

📌 14. Next Steps

Focus for the next phase:

  • Define campaign goals
  • Analyze blog traffic structure
  • Prepare audience breakdown
  • Review past successful cases

🚀 Summary in One Sentence

This was not a failed meeting, but an early communication event that successfully entered the Carbon Ads business evaluation process.
