1. The public IP address for connecting to the Alibaba Cloud RDS MySQL instance has been applied for. See Figure 1.
2. The connection failed in Navicat for MySQL, with the error: 2003 – Can’t connect to MySQL server on ‘rm-bp’ (10060 “Unknown error”). See Figure 2.
3. To access the RDS over the public network, you must use the public IP address. How to connect. Note: Public network connections reduce instance security; using an internal network address is recommended. See Figure 3.
4. Search for “IP” on Baidu to obtain the current company’s public IP segment. See Figure 4.
5. In the RDS management console, go to Data Security – Add Whitelist Group – company. See Figure 5.
6. Testing the connection returned the error: 1045 – Access denied for usr ‘root’@’ip’ (using password: YES). See Figure 6.
7. Instead of using root as the username, use a different username. The connection succeeded. See Figure 7.
