1. An error occurred while updating in WordPress: Download failed. Too Many Requests, as shown in Figure 1.

2. Open the URL: https://wordpress.org/ , and the response is: 429 Too Many Requests. It appears that the WordPress official website is blocked for access within the country. As shown in Figure 2.

3. After connecting to Lantern locally, the URL https://wordpress.org/ opens normally, as shown in Figure 3.

4. Since Lantern only supports Windows, Android, Mac, and Ubuntu, but not CentOS, we need to install software similar to Lantern on the CentOS server to enable access to the WordPress official website. Open the URL: https://www.wbolt.com/plugins/kill-429?invite=316 , Kill 429 – Perfectly resolves the 429 error when updating WordPress versions/themes/plugins, as shown in Figure 4.

5. Extract the plugin archive kill-429.1.0.0.zip, and upload the extracted folder via FTP to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory under the WordPress installation directory, as shown in Figure 5.

6. Visit the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins – Installed Plugins, find Kill 429 in the plugin list, and click Activate, as shown in Figure 6.

7. Update again in WordPress, and all update tasks are completed, as shown in Figure 7.
