1. What type of passport is currently being issued? The one being applied for is: Ordinary Passport (Private Passport).
2. Application method (highly recommended)
✅ Method: Online appointment + In-person processing (mainstream).
3. Step 1: Make an appointment. WeChat Mini Program: National Immigration Administration 12367, Chinese Citizen Services – On-site Application Appointment – Select the application office. See Figure 1.
4. Certificate type (multiple choice): Ordinary Passport, Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao with endorsements, Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Taiwan with endorsements. Select Ordinary Passport. See Figure 2.
5. Destination and reason for leaving the country (mandatory). Reason for leaving the country 👉 Tourism ✔ (most common, most reliable). Destination 👉 Singapore / Malaysia / Thailand (choose any one). See Figure 3.
6. Verify the online appointment information. See Figure 4.
7. At the Exit-Entry Hall of the High-tech Zone, first queue up to receive the Chinese Citizen Exit-Entry Document Application Form and a queue number for the Chengdu High-tech Zone Government Affairs Service Center. See Figure 5.
8. After processing at the window, receive the Receipt for Acceptance of Private Exit-Entry Document Application. I applied on April 1st and found that I would not be able to collect the passport until April 13th. The production fee is 120 RMB. See Figure 6.
9. On April 15th, I went to the Exit-Entry Self-Service Certificate Collection Machine in the first-floor lobby of the application office to collect my passport. You only need to bring your ID card. See Figure 7.
10. The passport comes out from the certificate exit. The appearance of the passport is shown in Figure 8.
