Boost Speed by 4x With ZgoCloud, Wstunnel and WireGuard: A Practical Guide to Clash Verge Rev Auto-Routing and Port 443 Anti-Ban

Make sure that on the Home page - Current Node - ZgoCloud-VPN is in a green state (as shown in Figure 25)

Core notes: This workflow perfectly matches my previous operating habits with Vultr and DMIT, highlighting ZgoCloud’s advantages—accessible from mainland China without a VPN, supports Alipay payments, offers triple-network optimization in Los Angeles (CN2 GIA+9929+CMIN2), and allows one-click deployment of censorship-resistant WireGuard. The steps are concise and can be completed in 5-10 minutes. Currently, all plans (Starter, Standard, Pro, Premium) show Out of stock. Based on ZgoCloud’s restocking patterns, I’ve added restock alerts and alternative optimized plans to help me deploy quickly.
Recently, I deployed a VPN on a ZgoCloud Los Angeles server, solving two pain points I encountered with my previous Vultr Singapore node: the complex split-routing configuration of native WireGuard, and the fact that my ports kept getting blocked by the ISP even after changing them countless times. I ultimately chose the Wstunnel + Clash Meta solution, balancing the strongest anti-censorship capabilities with the convenience of automatic split routing. This article documents the entire process and the foolproof deployment workflow; you can complete it by following the steps one by one.

1. Register a ZgoCloud Account (Direct access from mainland China, no VPN needed, more convenient than Vultr)
1. Open the ZgoCloud official website directly.
2. Once on the ZgoCloud homepage, click “Client Portal” on the page. After entering the new page, click the “Register” button in the top right corner to access the registration page. No phone number is required, and it takes only 3 steps to complete (as shown in Figure 1):

Once on the ZgoCloud homepage, click "Client Portal" on the page. After entering the new page, click the "Register" button in the top right corner to access the registration page. No phone number is required, and it takes only 3 steps to complete (as shown in Figure 1)

3. Enter my commonly used email address (it can be the same email I used to register for Vultr and DMIT for easy memory);
4. Set an account password (it is recommended to use the same password as before; it must be 8 characters or more and include letters + numbers to improve security);
5. Check “I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy”, complete a simple human verification (slider verification, no complex operations required), and click “Create Account”.
6. After registration is complete, the system automatically logs into the backend, and a verification email is sent to my inbox. Click the verification link in the email to complete email verification (only required once to ensure normal account usage and avoid subsequent issues with recharging or deploying servers).
7. After verification, return to the official backend; no need to log in again. Proceed directly to the Dashboard to prepare for server deployment.

2. Deploy a Los Angeles Optimized Server (Deploy first, recharge later, solving the recharge prompt issue similar to DMIT)
Important reminder: Like DMIT, ZgoCloud requires you to create a “valid order” (deploy a server) first before recharging, to avoid the “No valid order, unable to recharge” prompt. The order of operations is exactly the same as my previously adjusted DMIT workflow. Search for GIA on the Check our amazing offers page, and select Los Angeles AMD Optimised VPS. Currently, among all plans (Starter, Standard, Pro, Premium), only Premium shows as in stock (as shown in Figure 4),

Select Los Angeles AMD Optimised VPS. Currently, among all plans (Starter, Standard, Pro, Premium), only Premium shows as in stock (as shown in Figure 4)

However, when I refreshed the page 2 hours later, I found that all plans (Starter, Standard, Pro, Premium) now showed Out of stock (as shown in Figure 5),

However, when I refreshed the page 2 hours later, I found that all plans (Starter, Standard, Pro, Premium) now showed Out of stock (as shown in Figure 5)

Based on ZgoCloud’s restocking patterns (special/discounted and popular plans are restocked irregularly, and the daily restock time varies), I’ve added actionable solutions and restock alerts.
1. Step 1: On the Dashboard homepage, click the “Order more” button. After clicking, you will be redirected to the server plan selection and configuration page;
2. Step 2: If you still can’t find the entry point, directly visit the ZgoCloud plan ordering page (no extra VPN needed): https://zgovps.com. On the homepage, click Price, search for GIA on the Check our amazing offers page, select Los Angeles AMD Optimised VPS, and click “Select” to enter the plan selection page (same as the backend deployment entry, configuration steps remain unchanged).
3. Current out-of-stock solutions (Key point, tailored to the actual situation):

3.1. Option 1: Wait for restock (Highly recommended): ZgoCloud’s popular optimized plans (including Premium and the earlier Starter/Standard/Pro) will be restocked irregularly. Based on the platform’s past restocking patterns, special and high-end optimized plans have daily restocks at irregular times, and inventory is limited after restocking (the situation I encountered where it went from in stock to out of stock within 2 hours is typical). It is recommended to refresh the configuration page every 1-2 hours, monitor inventory changes, and deploy immediately once restocked to avoid missing out again;
3.2. Option 2: Choose an alternative optimized plan: If you don’t want to wait for a restock, you can choose other China-optimized plans on ZgoCloud’s Los Angeles nodes (all marked China Optimised), such as Los Angeles Ryzen9 Performance VPS (AMD Ryzen9 7950X, 9929&CMIN2 optimized) or Los Angeles Intel Performance VPS (Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8452Y, 9929&CMIN2 optimized). Although these are not Premium tier, they still support domestic optimization with a latency of 40-80ms, meeting daily needs for Google search/translation and foreign web browsing. They occasionally get restocked, and the price converts to about $16/month, fitting my budget. The configuration and operational workflow are exactly the same as the Premium plan, and they also support one-click deployment of censorship-resistant WireGuard;
3.3. Option 3: Choose other optimized node plans: ZgoCloud’s Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Osaka nodes also have China Optimised plans (e.g., Hong Kong AMD VPS, Tokyo Intel VPS), all supporting domestic optimization with good latency performance (Hong Kong node latency is 40-60ms, Tokyo node latency is 50-70ms) and relatively sufficient stock. They can serve as alternatives. The configuration selection and operational workflow are identical to the Los Angeles node; only the node selection differs. They support Alipay payments and one-click WireGuard deployment.

4. If you find a deployable plan (after restock or an alternative plan), select the following configuration (tailored to my budget and needs, just select directly, no extra operations needed):
5. Location: Prioritize “Los Angeles, USA (CN2 GIA+9929+CMIN2)” (Los Angeles triple-network optimized node, latency 30-60ms, identical network experience to DMIT Los Angeles Premium, no detours or packet loss during evening peak hours, a perfect replacement for my previous Vultr Singapore node). Do not select other nodes (although other nodes have China Optimised domestic optimization, they lack Premium-tier high-end optimization; latency and stability are inferior to the Los Angeles triple-network optimized node, resulting in a subpar overall experience). If the Los Angeles node is out of stock, you can choose optimized plans from Hong Kong or Tokyo nodes as alternatives.
6. Server Type: Select “Shared CPU” (same as my previous choices for Vultr and DMIT; entirely sufficient for daily browsing and Google search/translation. Optimized plans come with high-performance CPUs by default, fitting ZgoCloud’s high-end hardware configuration standards, such as AMD EPYC™, AMD Ryzen9, and Intel Xeon series processors).
7. Plan: If the Premium plan is restocked, prioritize it (price $58.00/quarter, converts to about $16/month; configuration: 1 Core/2G RAM/40G NVMe/200Mbps bandwidth/1.5T monthly traffic, full triple-network optimization). If Premium is out of stock, choose other Los Angeles optimized plans (like Ryzen9 Performance, Intel Performance) or other node optimized plans. The prices all fit my budget, the configurations meet daily usage needs, and they support one-click WireGuard deployment. Three days later, I found that “Los Angeles, USA (CN2 GIA+9929+CMIN2)” Pro was in stock, and clicked Continue (as shown in Figure 6).

ZgoCloud Pitfall Avoidance Details (Only for this step, adding deployment entry + out-of-stock avoidance):
1. The node must be “Los Angeles Triple-Network Optimized” (prioritize after restock), do not choose regular Los Angeles nodes, otherwise latency will be high (over 180ms), losing the optimization advantage; other node optimized plans can serve as alternatives and also support domestic optimization;
2. The system must be “Ubuntu 22.04 x64”, consistent with my previous operations, to avoid subsequent WireGuard deployment failures;
3. When all plans are currently out of stock, there is no need to repeatedly try clicking on out-of-stock plans. Prioritize “waiting for restock” or “choosing an alternative plan” to avoid wasting time; ZgoCloud’s special and optimized plans have a high restock frequency. Keep an eye on the inventory changes on the official plan page and configuration page, and you can also follow platform promotional events, as restock volumes increase during promotions;

3. Problems I Encountered (Deploying WireGuard on Vultr Singapore Node)
When using native WireGuard previously, I encountered two major headaches:
1. Split routing configuration is too troublesome
Native WireGuard split routing relies entirely on manually configuring AllowedIPs. Domestic IP ranges must be manually excluded, while foreign ones go through the VPN (foreign IP ranges must be added manually). Every time rules update, the configuration needs manual changes, which is extremely tedious. Moreover, there is no one-click toggle, making switching very inconvenient.
2. Blocked even after changing countless ports
At first, I thought it was a port issue, switching WireGuard’s port back and forth between 20000-60000, only to be blocked by the ISP a few days later. I later discovered that the ISP isn’t blocking ports at all, but rather identifying WireGuard’s traffic characteristics through DPI (Deep Packet Inspection). As long as WireGuard traffic is detected, it gets blocked immediately; simply changing ports is useless. Furthermore, getting blocked suddenly during critical moments, like a video conference, severely impacts the experience.

4. Analysis and Comparison of All Anti-Censorship Solutions

As a new-generation high-performance VPN protocol, WireGuard uses the UDP protocol for transmission by default, which may be blocked by ISPs or firewalls via port blocking or DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) in certain network environments. Below is a detailed comparison of currently mainstream WireGuard anti-censorship solutions to help you choose the right one based on your network environment:

Solution NameCore PrincipleTransport Layer ProtocolAnti-DPI CapabilitySpeed LossConfiguration DifficultyAdditional DependenciesApplicable Scenarios
Native WireGuard (Non-standard port)Change default port 51820 to a random high port to evade port blacklistsUDPWeak (Only prevents port blocking, cannot counter DPI inspection)Extremely low (Almost no performance loss)Extremely lowNoneLenient environments where ISP only has simple port blocking and no deep traffic inspection
Port Hopping / Auto Port SwitchingConfigure multi-port forwarding rules, client auto-checks connectivity, switches automatically when a port is blockedUDPWeak (Only prevents single port blocking, cannot counter DPI)Extremely lowMediumRouter port forwarding + connectivity check scriptEnvironments where ISP blocks single UDP ports but does not inspect traffic characteristics
wg-obfuscator + WireGuardLightly obfuscate raw WireGuard packets, modify protocol fingerprints to evade signature detectionUDPMedium (Can counter basic DPI, cannot handle advanced signature detection)LowMediumwg-obfuscator standalone toolScenarios with basic DPI inspection requiring simple traffic signature modification
AmneziaWG (Modified WireGuard)Modified based on WireGuard, obfuscates traffic signatures by randomizing handshake packet size, modifying packet headers, and padding random dataUDPMedium-High (Can counter conventional DPI, but still easily detected under strong DPI environments in mainland China)LowMediumAmneziaWG kernel module / standalone toolMedium blocking environments requiring light obfuscation

Stunnel + WireGuardEncapsulates WireGuard traffic into standard SSL/TLS tunnel, disguising as HTTPS encrypted trafficTCP(SSL/TLS)High (Disguises as standard HTTPS traffic, evades DPI signature detection)MediumMediumStunnel standalone toolScenarios requiring conversion of UDP traffic to standard TLS traffic to evade DPI inspection
Anti-Censorship CDN Relay + WireGuardRelays traffic through professional anti-censorship CDN nodes, hides origin server’s real IP, supports multi-entry rotation, SNI obfuscation, etc.TCP(WebSocket/TLS)Extremely High (Can counter IP blocking, SNI blocking, advanced DPI, hides origin server)Medium-HighHighProfessional anti-censorship CDN serviceState-level heavy blocking environments where origin server IPs are easily mass-blocked

Solution Selection Recommendations

  1. Lenient environments: If your network only has simple port blocking and no deep inspection, just use native WireGuard with a non-standard port. It offers the best performance and simplest configuration.
  2. Basic blocking environments: If the ISP blocks single ports or has basic DPI inspection, you can choose Port Hopping or wg-obfuscator + WireGuard. Configuration is simple and performance loss is minimal.
  3. UDP disabled environments: If your network completely disables the UDP protocol and only allows TCP, choose Phantun + WireGuard or Stunnel + WireGuard to convert UDP to TCP transmission.
  4. Strict DPI environments: If the network has strict deep packet inspection and requires disguising as normal web traffic, using wstunnel + WireGuard or Shadowsocks + WireGuard is recommended to effectively bypass DPI inspection.
  5. Heavily blocked environments: For state-level heavy blocking where origin server IPs are easily blocked, using Anti-Censorship CDN Relay + WireGuard is recommended. It hides the origin server and automatically rotates entry points to maximize evasion of blocks.

Final Solution Choice: wstunnel + WireGuard + Clash Meta

For the current network environment in mainland China, ISP DPI inspection intensity is continuously increasing. Ordinary lightweight obfuscation solutions (like Phantun + WireGuard, AmneziaWG) can no longer cope. The traffic signatures of these solutions are still recognizable under strong DPI and typically get blocked after a few days of use.

The wstunnel + WireGuard solution completely disguises VPN traffic as normal HTTPS web access traffic. ISPs cannot identify it as VPN traffic, giving it the strongest anti-censorship capability and highest stability among all solutions, allowing for long-term use without being blocked.

At the same time, this solution is perfectly compatible with Clash Meta. You can continue using Clash’s automatic split routing feature without manually configuring WireGuard’s AllowedIPs. You can also use features like Clash’s one-click toggle, perfectly solving the pain point of complex split routing configurations in traditional WireGuard solutions.

5. Foolproof Deployment Workflow
Follow these steps one by one; you can complete it by copying and pasting commands without understanding any complex principles.
Prerequisites
1. You need your own domain name (used to apply for an SSL certificate; a free domain like one from freenom works too)
2. Point your domain to the public IP of your ZgoCloud Los Angeles server. After configuration, wait about 10 minutes for it to take effect (as shown in Figure 16)

Point your domain to the public IP of your ZgoCloud Los Angeles server. After configuration, wait about 10 minutes for it to take effect (as shown in Figure 16)

3. Log into your ZgoCloud server via SSH as the root user (if not root, just prepend sudo to commands)

Part 1: Server-Side Deployment (Operate on ZgoCloud Server)
Step 1: Update the System
First, update the system to avoid any old dependency issues:

Bash
apt update && apt upgrade -y

Step 2: One-Click Install WireGuard
Use the official one-click script to automatically install WireGuard without manual configuration:

Bash
wget -O wireguard.sh https://get.vpnsetup.net/wg
bash wireguard.sh --auto

This script automatically installs WireGuard, configures the server side, and generates keys without requiring any action from you. Just wait for it to finish running.
Once finished, it will output the WireGuard configuration information. Note down this information (client configuration file path: /root/client.conf), as the client will need it later:
– Server public key: the string of characters after public-key
– Client private key: the string of characters after private-key
– Client IP: 10.7.0.2 (if yours is different, use the one it output)

AllowedIPs = 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0
Endpoint = 154.21.196.249:51820
PersistentKeepalive = 25

Step 3: Install [acme.sh](acme.sh) and Apply for an SSL Certificate
We need a valid SSL certificate to disguise as HTTPS. Use [acme.sh](acme.sh) to apply for a free Let’s Encrypt certificate with one click:

Bash
# 安装acme.sh(shuijingwanwq@gmail.com 需要换为你自己的邮箱地址)
curl https://get.acme.sh | sh -s email=shuijingwanwq@gmail.com
# 把acme.sh加入环境变量
source ~/.bashrc

Then apply for the certificate, replacing the domain name below (wg.shuijingwanwq.com) with your own (the one you previously pointed to the server IP):

Bash
acme.sh --issue -d wg.shuijingwanwq.com --standalone

This command automatically applies for the certificate. Once it finishes running, the certificate is generated and stored by default under /root/.acme.sh/your_domain/ (as shown in Figure 17).

Step 4: Install wstunnel
wstunnel is the tool used to encapsulate UDP traffic into HTTPS. We will download its binary version:

Bash
# 下载wstunnel
wget https://github.com/erebe/wstunnel/releases/download/v10.5.2/wstunnel_10.5.2_linux_amd64.tar.gz
# 解压
tar xzf wstunnel_10.5.2_linux_amd64.tar.gz
# 把它放到系统路径,方便运行
mv wstunnel /usr/local/bin/
# 加执行权限
chmod +x /usr/local/bin/wstunnel

Upgrade to v10.5.5

Bash
# 先停掉wstunnel
systemctl stop wstunnel
# 下载v10.5.5的压缩包,和你之前的格式一样
wget https://github.com/erebe/wstunnel/releases/download/v10.5.5/wstunnel_10.5.5_linux_amd64.tar.gz
# 解压
tar xzf wstunnel_10.5.5_linux_amd64.tar.gz
# 放到系统路径
mv wstunnel /usr/local/bin/
# 加执行权限
chmod +x /usr/local/bin/wstunnel
# 启动wstunnel
systemctl start wstunnel

Step 5: Configure wstunnel to Start on Boot
We need to configure wstunnel as a system service so it starts automatically on boot without you having to start it manually every time:

Bash
# 创建systemd服务文件
vi /etc/systemd/system/wstunnel.service

Press the I key, then paste the following content, replacing my domain (wg.shuijingwanwq.com) with your own:

Plaintext
[Unit]
Description=Wstunnel service
After=network.target

[Service]
Type=simple
User=root

Restart=always
RestartSec=5

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

After pasting, press the Esc key, then type :wq and press Enter to save and exit.
Then start the service and set it to start on boot:

Bash
# 重新加载systemd配置
systemctl daemon-reload
# 启动wstunnel
systemctl start wstunnel
# 设置开机自启
systemctl enable wstunnel

Then check if the service is running normally:

Bash
systemctl status wstunnel

If you see active (running), everything is fine (as shown in Figure 18).

If you see active (running), everything is fine (as shown in Figure 18)

Step 6: Configure Firewall
Allow port 443 because wstunnel uses port 443:

Plaintext
# 检查ufw是否在运行
root@wireguard-2026-0509:~# ufw status
Status: inactive

The server does not have a firewall enabled! ufw is in an inactive state, meaning all server ports are open by default. You don’t need to configure a firewall and can use it directly. Just skip the firewall configuration steps.

Part 2: Client-Side Deployment (Operate on your own computer)
Step 1: Install Clash Verge Client
The original Clash Verge author has archived and stopped updating it, but the community has taken over and created Clash Verge Rev. This is the continuously maintained and updated version, updated faster than the original, and supports the latest Clash Meta (now renamed mihomo). It’s available for Windows, Mac, and Linux:
https://github.com/clash-verge-rev/clash-verge-rev/releases
Download the version corresponding to your system. For Windows, download the win version (Clash.Verge_2.5.0-rc_x64-setup.exe); for Mac, download the mac version. Install and open it.
The latest Clash Meta client for Android is Tabby. Download the latest version here: https://github.com/Goooler/Tabby/releases (Tabby-3.0.0-arm64-v8a-release.apk)
Step 2: Install wstunnel Client
Similarly, you need to install the wstunnel client locally to forward local WireGuard traffic to the server:
Download this: https://github.com/erebe/wstunnel/releases
Download the version corresponding to your operating system. For Windows, download wstunnel_10.5.5_windows_amd64.tar.gz. For Android, download wstunnel_10.5.5_android_arm64.tar.gz. Note: You must download version 10.5.5 here to remain consistent with the server version.
After extracting, place wstunnel somewhere you can find it. For Windows, place it under C:\wstunnel\.
Next, create a startup script. For Windows, create a new text file, paste the following content, replace your ZgoCloud server IP with your own (i.e., 154.21.196.249), replace your domain with your own (i.e., wg.shuijingwanwq.com), and then change the file extension to .bat (as shown in Figure 19):

Create a startup script. For Windows, create a new text file, paste the following content, replace your ZgoCloud server IP with your own (i.e., 154.21.196.249), replace your domain with your own (i.e., wg.shuijingwanwq.com), and then change the file extension to .bat (as shown in Figure 19)
Bash
@echo off
taskkill /f /im wstunnel.exe >nul 2>&1
C:\wstunnel\wstunnel.exe client -L udp://127.0.0.1:51820:127.0.0.1:51820?timeout_sec=0 --tls-sni-override wg.shuijingwanwq.com wss://154.21.196.249:443
pause

For Mac/Linux, create a shell script:

Plaintext
#!/bin/bash
./wstunnel client -L udp://127.0.0.1:51820:127.0.0.1:51820?timeout_sec=0 --tls-sni-override wg.shuijingwanwq.com wss://154.21.196.249:443

Then grant it execution permissions. From now on, you can just double-click this script to start the wstunnel client. After successful startup, do not close this window; minimizing it to the background is fine. If you close it, the VPN will disconnect.
The output will show:
wstunnel client v10.5.5 started normally
UDP server is listening normally on 127.0.0.1:51820
With no errors, it means wstunnel has successfully connected to your server. Now you can start Clash Verge, turn on the system proxy, and browse the internet normally. All automatic split routing and anti-censorship features are now active!

Step 3: Configure Clash Meta Split Routing

Create a new configuration file, ZgoCloud-VPN.yaml, with the following content:

YAML
# ==============================================
# 你的自定义订阅配置,会和Clash Verge自带的基础配置自动合并
# ==============================================

# 新增:配置持久化(保存你手动选择的代理组,重启后不会重置)
profile:
  store-selected: true

# DNS配置(自带config没有DNS部分,保留你的原有配置)
dns:

Make sure that on the Home page - Current Node - ZgoCloud-VPN is in a green state (as shown in Figure 25)

(This configuration file can now be shared between Windows and Android):

Part 3: Usage
I’ve organized the complete usage steps for you; just follow them one by one:

3.1. Windows PC Usage Steps
3.1.1. First, start the wstunnel client (this is the core of anti-censorship and must be started first). Double-click the wstunnel.bat script to start the wstunnel client.

3.1.2. Then start Clash Verge
– Open Clash Verge from the Start Menu
– Click Home on the left, then toggle the system proxy switch on (as shown in Figure 22)

Click Home on the left, then toggle the system proxy switch on (as shown in Figure 22)

– Done! You can now browse the internet normally:
– Domestic websites and apps will automatically connect directly, with the same speed as usual
– Foreign websites and apps will automatically go through the VPN without you having to switch manually
– If you want to turn off the VPN, just toggle off the system proxy switch on the Home page. One-click toggle, very convenient.

3.2. Android Phone Usage Steps
3.2.1. First, install the downloaded `Tabby-3.0.0-arm64-v8a-release.apk`, and open it after installation
3.2.2. Save our configuration file (the section with comments) as `config.yaml` and transfer it to your phone
3.2.3. Open Tabby, click Import Configuration, and select the `config.yaml` transferred to your phone
3.2.4. Then start the Android version of the wstunnel client, using the same command to connect to your server
3.2.5. Then toggle on Tabby’s system proxy switch, and you can use it. Just like the computer, it features automatic split routing and a one-click toggle.

That’s the whole process. As long as you start wstunnel first, then start Clash, and turn on the system proxy, you’re all set. All automatic split routing and anti-censorship features are in effect.

Part 4: Precautions

4.1. If you find that Home – Current Node ZgoCloud-VPN shows Timeout and google.com cannot be opened, go to Subscriptions – View Runtime Subscription (as shown in Figure 24). The content of this subscription is a merge of the built-in items and the configuration items I added myself. You need to carefully check the configuration items.

If you find that Home - Current Node ZgoCloud-VPN shows Timeout and google.com cannot be opened, go to Subscriptions - View Runtime Subscription (as shown in Figure 24)

4.2. Boot Auto-Start Settings

The startup order must be: start wstunnel first, then start Clash Verge, because Clash uses wstunnel’s port 51820. If Clash starts first and wstunnel isn’t ready, Clash will fail to connect (the startup order doesn’t need to be strictly followed anymore, because I have already resolved this).

The method to set up auto-start on boot for Windows is very simple:
4.2.1. Right-click your modified wstunnel bat file and select Create Shortcut
4.2.2. Press `Win+R` on your keyboard, type `shell:startup`, and press Enter. This will open the startup folder
4.2.3. Drag the wstunnel shortcut you just created into this startup folder. This way, wstunnel will start automatically on boot
4.2.4. Then open Clash Verge’s settings, find the auto-start on boot switch, and turn it on. This way, Clash will also start automatically on boot

After setting this up, the system will automatically start wstunnel first on boot. Once wstunnel is ready, it will start Clash. Both will run automatically in the background without manual intervention, allowing you to use the VPN immediately upon booting.

Mac/Linux Auto-Start on Boot
You can use systemd or launchd to configure it, adding both wstunnel and Clash to auto-start. The order should also be starting wstunnel first, then Clash, and you’re good to go.

4. Frequently Asked Questions
1. What if the certificate expires?
[acme.sh](acme.sh) will automatically renew the certificate for you, so you don’t need to worry about it. It will automatically renew 30 days before expiration, and wstunnel will automatically load the new certificate.
2. What if the wstunnel client won’t start?
Check if you’ve entered the server IP incorrectly, whether port 443 on the server is open, and whether it’s blocked by a firewall.
3. What if the split routing is incorrect?
Clash’s rules will update automatically. You can click Update Rules in Clash Verge to pull the latest rules.

After deploying this, you will have a VPN with the strongest anti-censorship capability, featuring automatic split routing without manual configuration and a one-click toggle, perfectly solving all your previous problems.

5. Test Results (Command-Line Quantitative Speed Test · Pure Data Objective Verification)

Preface: Speed Test Selection Logic
1. Abandoning ping www.google.com for speed testing
Google’s entire network blocks ICMP Ping requests by default. Even if the tunnel is perfectly normal, ping will directly time out, unable to reflect the true quality of the line, offering zero reference value.
2. Selecting standard speed test target www.gstatic.com
This domain is Google’s official static resource node, designed specifically for connectivity and TCP latency probing; it does not block port 443 probing, its global node coverage is exactly the same as Google’s main site, and it is the official default latency test address for the Clash core (generate_204 lightweight interface). It is compatible with all tunnel architectures, allowing fair comparison between native WireGuard / wstunnel-encapsulated WireGuard.
3. Unified testing standards
Node native latency uses ICMP Ping to test VPS datacenter direct connection latency; external business latency is quantified by HTTP 204 interface request duration, unaffected by domain blocking or protocol differences. Both sets of nodes share the same set of testing rules, making the data comparable.

Measured Data and Analysis
– Latency range: 174ms–198ms, average latency 179ms
– Packet loss rate: 0% full reception, no packet loss whatsoever
– Jitter performance: Extreme value fluctuation of only 24ms, with most requests steadily landing in the 174–179ms range, extremely low jitter
– Line evaluation: The advantages of the triple-network optimized dedicated line are obvious: low latency, low jitter, zero packet loss, and extremely strong link stability. It is suitable for low-latency demand scenarios such as the Google ecosystem, overseas web pages, and lightweight streaming.

2.3 Node Native Latency Horizontal Comparison Conclusion
The ZgoCloud Los Angeles triple-network optimized node averages 179ms. Compared to the Vultr Singapore regular node’s 258ms, the baseline latency is reduced by about 79ms, achieving a latency optimization of 30.6%;
Moreover, the jitter is smaller and the trend is more stable. The low latency and high stability advantages brought by the dedicated line optimization are very intuitive.

3. External Network Business Connectivity Duration Test Across Different Time Periods
Using a unified command: request Google’s generate_204 lightweight interface, using the complete request duration to simulate real web page access latency. This is fully compatible with both Vultr native WireGuard and ZgoCloud wstunnel + WireGuard dual architectures, achieving a completely fair comparison.
This test covers three typical time periods, fully presenting the performance differences between peak and off-peak hours:

Comparison: Comparison: ZgoCloud’s request duration is only 1/3 of Vultr’s, improving access efficiency by nearly 3 times. As international exports begin to gradually congest, Vultr’s latency has started to spike, while ZgoCloud remains stable.

3.3 Overall Business Duration Comparison Conclusion
In real external network business scenarios, the ZgoCloud line’s advantage during peak hours is extremely obvious. The request duration is only 1/4 of Vultr’s, improving access efficiency by nearly 4 times. The gap narrows during off-peak hours (3 times), but ZgoCloud still maintains better stability and does not suffer from Vultr’s sudden latency spike issues.
Reflected in actual use: Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, and other overseas sites load their first screen faster, page switching is lag-free, and perceived latency is extremely low.

4. Tunnel Connectivity Judgment Criteria
4.1. Both WireGuard tunnels can normally resolve foreign domain names, and www.gstatic.com requests have no timeouts or failures;
4.2. The routing link is forwarded through the VPS tunnel exit, going through the proxy dedicated line the whole way, with no local direct connection traffic leaks;
4.3. The latency trend is stable without sudden spikes, meeting the needs of daily web browsing, searching, and image/text/short video access;

6. Verification of Split Routing Effects: Domestic Direct Connection, Foreign via VPN

Preface: The core objective of this test is to verify whether the two solutions can achieve “domestic traffic local direct connection, foreign traffic via VPN tunnel”, solving the pain points of native WireGuard relying on manually maintaining AllowedIPs to add foreign IP ranges, which is never complete and mistakenly kills services.
This test only selects the domestic personal site www.shuijingwanwq.com as the sole target. Through access durations at different time periods, it intuitively verifies whether domestic traffic is forcibly detoured through overseas tunnels.
Test method: Noon off-peak uses a batch request of 10 times to get the average, filtering out single fluctuations; afternoon time period is a single precise test to ensure objective and accurate data.

Comparison: As international export congestion worsens, Vultr’s domestic access latency directly explodes, exceeding 20 seconds, making it completely unusable; meanwhile, ZgoCloud’s domestic access remains at a usable level of 2.6 seconds, making it 7.6 times faster than Vultr.

5. Split Routing Effect Core Conclusion
5.1. The Essential Problem of Vultr Native WireGuard
Native WireGuard has no intelligent split routing capability and can only control routing via AllowedIPs. Manually adding foreign IP ranges is never complete, ultimately forcing all domestic and foreign traffic through the overseas tunnel.
During off-peak hours, domestic access latency is as high as 7 seconds. Once the international export starts to congest, latency directly surges to over 20 seconds, making domestic websites completely inaccessible and the experience extremely poor.

5.2. Advantages of ZgoCloud + Clash Split Routing Solution
Relying on Clash’s Domain/GeoIP rules for intelligent split routing, domestic traffic is prioritized for local direct connection scheduling, without having to squeeze all traffic through the overseas tunnel. This perfectly circumvents the pain points of manually maintaining massive foreign IP ranges, IP overlaps, and mistakenly killing services.
During off-peak hours, domestic access latency is already 3.7 times faster than Vultr. During congested periods, the gap widens to over 7.6 times. The improvement in domestic site access experience is extremely obvious.

7. Overall Test Summary

  1. Baseline latency: ZgoCloud Los Angeles CN2 GIA+9929+CMIN2 optimized node averages 179ms, a significant optimization compared to Vultr Singapore regular’s 258ms, with zero packet loss and low jitter. Line stability crushes regular public network lines;
  2. External network business: For overseas standard interface request duration, ZgoCloud takes only 348ms during peak hours, far lower than Vultr’s 1352ms, improving access speed by nearly 3 times; during off-peak hours, ZgoCloud still maintains better stability without sudden latency spikes;
  3. Domestic split routing: ZgoCloud + Clash’s intelligent split routing solution perfectly solves the problem of native WireGuard detouring domestic traffic. Domestic access speed is up to 7.6 times faster than Vultr, thoroughly resolving the pain points of manually adding endless foreign IP ranges and mistakenly killing services;
  4. Testing standardization: The entire process uses fixed test targets and unified command-line quantitative standards, unaffected by ICMP blocking or tunnel architecture differences. The data is reproducible and horizontally comparable, without drawing conclusions based on subjective perception;
  5. Cost-effectiveness: ZgoCloud Los Angeles optimized node’s external network access speed is about 3-4 times that of Vultr Singapore regular node, and domestic access speed can reach up to 7.6 times; in terms of price, ZgoCloud’s monthly fee is about 3.2 times that of Vultr, representing a typical “pay more for more speed, good value” optimized line pricing. It can be used as a long-term primary overseas tunnel node.

8. Subsequent Maintenance (Lightweight operations, zero learning curve to get started)

  1. Server Renewal Management
    All ZgoCloud Los Angeles optimized line plans support quarterly/semi-annual/annual multi-cycle options, adapting to the pace of long-term personal use. Before the server expires, the platform will proactively send expiration reminders via the registered email to avoid downtime due to negligence.

The renewal process is concise and easy to understand: log into the member backend, go to the “Billing” section and select “Add Funds” to top up the balance, then go to the “Services” my services list, select the corresponding cloud host and click “Renew” to complete the renewal with one click. The platform natively supports Alipay and PayPal mainstream payment methods, requiring no VPN and no foreign currency credit card, perfectly fitting the payment habits of domestic users.

The platform will occasionally launch limited-time promotional events. During these events, there are not only plan discounts and renewal offers, but also restocks of popular Premium optimized models. You can pay attention to platform announcements in your daily life and reasonably choose annual stockpiling or event renewals to save long-term usage costs.

  1. WireGuard Configuration File Reset
    If you accidentally leak the client configuration or the keys pose a security risk, there is no need to manually reinstall the OS or use complex command-line operations. Directly enter the server details management page and redeploy the WireGuard service. The platform will automatically generate brand new keys and configuration files, immediately invalidating the old configurations and keys to eliminate the risk of account impersonation. The entire process is visualized, and even beginners can complete it independently.
  2. Daily Troubleshooting and Technical Support
    When connection anomalies occur during daily use, follow simple troubleshooting logic: first check the running status of the local Clash and WireGuard clients to confirm whether they are shaking hands and connecting normally; if not connected, restart the client and reactivate the tunnel to recover.

If you encounter difficult problems such as link lag or tunnel disconnection, you can directly submit a ticket through the backend “Support” entrance. The platform supports Chinese communication, and customer service responds promptly with high troubleshooting efficiency, without any language communication barriers.

In terms of hardware and underlying stability, ZgoCloud’s enterprise-grade data centers adopt 1+1 redundant power supplies, RAID1 disk array architecture, paired with off-site disaster recovery backup mechanisms. It avoids single points of failure at the hardware level, ensuring long-term stable server uptime. Hardware downtime and data loss issues are extremely rare, and faults can be quickly located and repaired.

  1. Popular Plan Restock and Purchase Advice
    Currently, the Los Angeles Premium triple-network optimized plan is out of stock year-round, which is a normal supply and demand situation for market-demand models. Referring to the platform’s restocking patterns, you can refresh the configuration purchase page at fixed time slots like 10 AM, 3 PM, and 8 PM. Popular restock inventory is limited, so it is recommended to deploy immediately once you see an orderable status to avoid waiting for another out-of-stock period.

If you don’t want to wait around for restocks long-term, you can choose alternative optimized plans on the same line. The underlying line (CN2 GIA+9929+CMIN2), one-click deployment process, network experience, and backend maintenance operations are exactly the same as the Premium version. They can fully meet daily needs for external network access, web browsing, and lightweight streaming, so there’s no need to fixate on a specific model.

Overall Maintenance Summary
ZgoCloud‘s entire backend operation logic, renewal process, and service management methods highly align with my long-term operating habits with Vultr and DMIT platforms. There is no need to learn new processes or adapt to an unfamiliar backend.

At the same time, it precisely avoids the core concerns of domestic users: no VPN needed to access the backend, natively supports convenient Alipay payments, plan pricing fits personal budgets, and one-click deployment of censorship-resistant WireGuard saves worry and effort. Whether it’s daily renewals, configuration resets, troubleshooting, or plan restock purchases, the processes are simple and lightweight, balancing stability, convenience, and cost-effectiveness. It can completely replace traditional international cloud providers and be used as a long-term primary optimized node.
