1. The Haier front-load washing machine kept showing 36 minutes remaining for the wash cycle, intermittently displaying E1. See Video 1.
2. Checking the user manual, E1 indicates a drainage fault. Troubleshooting steps: clean the filter, check if the drain hose is blocked, and if the issue persists, contact maintenance. See Figure 2.
3. Following the Cleaning/Maintenance instructions in the manual, clean the filter (recommended once a month). The washing machine had not been cleaned for two years. See Figure 3.
4. Hold the plastic plug and pull out the drain hose, prepare a water container, pull the plastic plug off the drain hose, and drain the residual water into the container. Because a new pair of jeans was being washed, the water was dark blue. See Figure 5.
5. Once the water has drained completely, reinsert the plastic plug into the drain hose. See Figure 6.
6. Unscrew the filter counterclockwise. A small amount of water flowing out during removal is normal. See Figure 7.
7. Rinse the filter clean with water. A large amount of debris was found. See Figure 8.
8. Finally, align the protrusion on the filter with the slot on the drain pump, insert it, tighten it clockwise, and close the filter door. Snap the drain hose back into its original position. See Figure 9.
9. Start the wash cycle again. After the wash is complete, the door can be opened normally.
