Recently, I received an alliance cooperation email that VPN manufacturers actively sent. The other party mentioned that they noticed that there are VPN-related content on my website, and hope to discuss affiliate marketing cooperation.
This thing made me rethink:
Is my technical blog at a stage where I can systematically do commercial operations?
In the past, this blog was more of a technical record. Write php, yii2, go, linux, wordpress, wireguard, vpn, and ai tools, mainly to solve the problems you encounter, and also help those who encounter similar problems.
But in recent times, several changes have occurred at the same time:
- VPN / WireGuard related content begins to obtain stable search traffic;
- There are already users who have contacted me through the blog to consult the construction of VPN;
- Google AdSense has been re-enabled;
- From May 20, 2026, I have translated Chinese articles into English on a large scale;
- Bing traffic began to increase significantly;
- Now there are VPN manufacturers who take the initiative to contact the alliance to cooperate.
So, I decided to stop using blogs as ‘article warehouses’, but start to analyze them as a long-term personal technical asset.

1. Description of data source
This analysis mainly refers to the following sets of data:
- Google Analytics data from the last 90 days;
- Google Search Console last 90 days of web page data;
- bing webmaster last 90 days of page traffic data;
- bing webmaster last 90 days keyword data;
- Baidu Statistics has the last 90 days of sources, external links, search terms, and data of the interviewed pages.
It should be noted that when the new WordPress theme was recently switched, because the page layout and functions have been adjusted, the statistical code has not been re-added in time for about 5 days. Therefore, within 5 days, both Google Analytics and Baidu statistics have data missing.
Therefore, the conclusion of this paper does not pursue absolute accuracy, but is used to judge the trend and formulate follow-up practice directions.

Why not just look at Google Analytics
A considerable part of my website readers are from mainland China, and Google Analytics is not stable in the domestic access environment.
Many times, after the user opens the web page, the Google Analytics request will always be in the Pending state, and even the request fails. This will cause the real access to not be fully documented.
Therefore, I am now more inclined to this division:
| Tool | Main use |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Look at the overall source trend and user behavior |
| Google Search Console | See Google search performance |
| bing webmaster | Watch Bing Search Performance |
| Baidu Statistics | See domestic real visits and Baidu side traffic |
That is to say, the follow-up should not only rely on a single statistical tool, but should combine multiple platforms to cross-judgment.
3. Source structure: Bing is becoming more and more important
From the last 90 days of Google Analytics data, it is known from the source:
| Source | Sessions |
|---|---|
| Baidu related | 4136 |
| bing related | 3581 |
| Google related | 931 |
If you only watch 90 days, Baidu is still slightly higher than Bing.
But the data I have observed in the last 30 days are:
| Source | Sessions |
|---|---|
| cn.bing.com | 1158 |
| Baidu | 848 |
| 371 |
In other words, Bing has recently surpassed Baidu.
This is likely to be related to my recent submission of sitemaps in Bing Webmaster Tools.
This inspiration for me is:
In the future, blog operations should not only focus on Google SEO, Bing is also worthy of serious maintenance.
Especially for technical blogs, Bing may have faster feedback on new content and new site maps than Google.
4. ‘External links’ in Baidu statistics should also be included in search analysis
In Baidu statistics, all the source data of the last 90 days are as follows:
| source type | PV | proportion |
|---|---|---|
| Direct visit | 16587 | 58.4% |
| external link | 6776 | 23.8% |
| Search engine | 5042 | 17.7% |
| custom source | 12 | 0.0% |
At first, I thought that ‘search engine’ was search traffic, but after looking at ‘external links’, I found that there are a lot of search engine sources in external links.
For example:
| external link | PV |
|---|---|
| cn.bing.com | 4927 |
| www.bing.com | 745 |
| m.baidu.com | 513 |
| baidu.com | 218 |
| www.baidu.com | 98 |
| chatgpt.com | 85 |
| search.google.com | 47 |
where cn.bing.com + www.bing.com A total of 5672 PV, accounting for 83.7% of external link sources.
Therefore, the ‘external link’ in Baidu statistics cannot be simply understood as an ordinary external link. For my website, it contains a lot of search engine access.
When analyzing search traffic, you should:
Search Engine + Search External Links
Watch it together.
5. The current keyword direction with the most commercial value
Judging from the keyword data of Bing Webmaster, VPN/Wireguard related keywords are very obvious:
| Keyword | show | Click on | average ranking |
|---|---|---|---|
| wireguard | 13673 | 434 | 6.14 |
| Wireguard VPN | 371 | 38 | 4.13 |
| vpn build | 251 | 24 | 4.44 |
| Self-built VPN | 230 | 29 | 3.74 |
| WireGuard configuration | 200 | 12 | 6.52 |
This set of data is very critical.
Because it is not general traffic, but search traffic with clear problem scenarios.
The user searches WireGuard, VPN to build, and self-built VPN, and there is a high probability that it is doing the following things:
- ready to buy a server;
- Prepare to deploy VPN;
- encounter configuration problems;
- Compare commercial VPNs with self-built VPNs;
- You may be willing to pay someone to build it on your behalf.
Therefore, the commercial value of such content is significantly higher than that of ordinary technical notes.
6. The current high-value page
From Baidu Statistics, Google Search Console, and Bing Webmaster comprehensively, the following types of pages are worthy of priority.
1. VPN/Wireguard series articles
These articles also satisfy:
- High search flow;
- Keywords are strong business intentions;
- VPS/VPN Alliance can be implanted naturally;
- Advisory services can be guided.
This is the next first priority.
2. Linux / Ubuntu / System Environment Articles
This type of article is suitable for:
- VPS alliance;
- server tools;
- Linux operation and maintenance consulting CTA.
Although a single conversion may not be as good as a VPN, the coverage is wider.
3. AI Tools / ChatGPT articles
This type of article is suitable for:
- ChatGPT Plus subscription scheme;
- Claude subscription scheme;
- AI tool invitation code;
- BEWILD invitation link.
There is still room for growth in this future, especially after English articles have gradually been included in search engines.
4. WordPress / Blog Operations Articles
This type of article is suitable for:
- Host Alliance;
- WordPress plugin;
- theme;
- Blog commercialization services;
- AdSense / SEO experience article internal link.
This part may not be realized immediately, but it is suitable for long-term precipitation of personal brands.
7. The English station is an important variable for the next 3 to 6 months
Beginning on May 20, 2026, I began to translate Chinese articles into English on a large scale. This process lasted for about a month.
At present, the Chinese articles in history have basically completed the English translation. I will also try to translate the newly written Chinese articles into English on the same day as possible.
This matter has a great impact on the future traffic structure.
Because:
- Google has more search space for English technical content;
- Bing may also be more friendly to English pages;
- VPN, VPS, AI tools themselves are global products;
- English traffic is more suitable for affiliate marketing;
- English readers are more receptive to subscription tools and SaaS products.
Therefore, this report can only represent the current stage.
In the next 3 to 6 months, the proportion of traffic in English stations may continue to rise.
This is also one of the important reasons why I am now starting to deploy affiliate marketing.
8. The revenue structure should shift from ‘advertising priority’ to ‘consultation + alliance + advertising’
In the past, my blog revenue was mainly considered in two categories:
AdSense + Consulting Services
But from this data, the more reasonable structure should be:
Consulting Services + Affiliate Marketing + AdSense
The priority is as follows:
First priority: consulting services
In particular:
- VPN remote deployment;
- Linux operation and maintenance;
- PHP/GO Technical Consulting;
- WordPress maintenance;
- System performance optimization.
The highest price of consulting services is also the way of income that best reflects the value of personal experience.
Second Priority: Affiliate Marketing
It is suitable for readers who ‘do not consult, but are willing to do it themselves’.
For example:
- buy your own vps;
- Buy your own VPN;
- Subscribe to AI tools yourself;
- Try server tools yourself.
This part of users may not pay for consultation, but can generate revenue through affiliate links.
Third priority: advertising revenue
AdSense continues to retain, but should not be a core revenue source.
Advertising is suitable for long-tail traffic that cannot be directly converted, but cannot destroy the reading experience for advertising.
9. The first stage layout of affiliate marketing
I’m not going to apply for a large number of affiliate platforms in the first place.
The first stage is only done around existing high-value content.
1. VPS Alliance
Priority is suitable for:
- WireGuard tutorial;
- Self-built VPN tutorial;
- Linux server tutorial;
- Ubuntu server tutorial;
- Wstunnel/clash/vps deployment article.
Consider the platform:
- vultr;
- digitalOcean;
- linode / akamai;
- Hetzner;
- Racknerd;
- lightnode.
Placement:
This test environment uses the Vultr Singapore node. If you don’t have a server yet, you can register through my recommendation link.
This way of writing is environmental explanation, not hard broad, and readers will be more acceptable.
2. VPN Service Alliance
Suitable for:
- Compare articles with self-built VPN;
- Commercial VPN review articles;
- Select articles for VPN schemes;
- The bottom of the Wireguard series.
At present, ZoogVPN has taken the initiative to contact me and can be the first test object.
But whether to recommend it, you can’t just look at the commission, but test it first:
- Availability in mainland China;
- speed;
- stability;
- client experience;
- refund policy;
- Whether to support the promotion of Chinese stations;
- Can you provide exclusive coupon codes;
- Is it suitable for my readers.
If the test results are good, write an independent evaluation.
If the test is general, it can only be used as an optional scheme and cannot be strongly recommended.
3. AI Tools Alliance
Suitable for:
- ChatGPT Plus Subscription articles;
- Claude uses articles;
- AI tool practice articles;
- Tech blog AI transformation article.
The BEWILD invitation link is currently available first.
But it should also be natural, for example:
If you are inconvenient to directly subscribe to ChatGPT Plus, you can refer to the third-party subscription scheme I have actually used.
4. WordPress / Blog Tools Alliance
This is not the first priority for the time being.
The reason is that the strongest business intent is still on VPN/VPS/AI tools.
But in the medium and long term, you can consider:
- host;
- theme;
- plugin;
- SEO tools;
- Mail Subscription Tool.
10. Specification for the placement of alliance links in the article
In order to prevent blogs from becoming advertising stations, I will follow the following principles in the future.
1. Only put affiliate links on relevant pages
Don’t stop the whole station.
For example:
- WireGuard articles put vps/vpn;
- ChatGPT articles put AI subscriptions;
- WordPress articles are placed on the host/plug-in;
- Linux articles put VPS / operation and maintenance services.
2. Prioritize writing ‘Usage Environment’ rather than ‘Highly Recommended’
Not recommended:
Highly recommended to buy VULTR!
More recommended:
This test environment uses vultr Singapore node, other VPS can also be used, as long as it supports Ubuntu.
3. Clearly label Affiliate
It is recommended to add a unified statement:
Note: Some links are affiliate links. If you register or buy through these links, I may get a certain commission, but it will not affect your price. This article still takes the real experience and technical feasibility as the main judgment standard.
4. Reserve the advisory service entrance
The affiliate link is for those who are willing to do it themselves.
Consulting services are for people who don’t want to toss.
The two do not conflict.
For VPN series articles, the bottom should still be preserved:
- remotely deployed;
- Self-built VPN consultation;
- Free trial self-built nodes;
- Long-term maintenance support.
11. The next 90 days of execution plan
The first stage: first change 10 high-value articles
Prioritize articles with the highest VPN/Wireguard/VPS related traffic.
Each article only does three things:
- Supplementary experimental environment description;
- Join the VPS/VPN affiliate link;
- Reserve the consulting service CTA.
Do not modify the whole site at one time.
Do 10 articles first and observe for 30 days.
Stage 2: Create a resource recommendation page
Create a new page:
Recommended VPS, VPN and AI tools I have used for a long time
Concentrated on the page:
- vps;
- vpn;
- DNS;
- ssh tool;
- AI subscription;
- WordPress tool.
All related articles can be linked to this page naturally in the future.
Phase 3: Test ZoogVPN
Don’t write strong recommendation articles right away.
The test dimensions include:
- windows;
- android;
- Linux;
- The stability of visits to mainland China;
- ChatGPT availability;
- youtube speed;
- peak performance;
- refund process;
- Customer service response.
After the test is completed, decide whether to write an independent evaluation.
Stage 4: Establish a Alliance Link Record Table
Each affiliate link is recorded:
| numeric field | Explanation |
|---|---|
| brand | e.g. vultr, zoogvpn, bewild |
| placement page | Which article |
| Placement | Beginning, middle, bottom, resource page |
| placement date | Convenient for follow-up review |
| hits | follow-up statistics |
| Registration amount | follow-up statistics |
| Commission | follow-up statistics |
| whether to keep it | review |
Don’t keep the link for a long time.
Everything is reviewed by data.
12. The conclusion after this analysis
This data analysis allowed me to confirm one thing:
My technical blog is not just a content precipitation tool, but has the foundation of commercial operation.
Especially the VPN/WireGuard/VPS direction, which already has:
- search traffic;
- clear needs;
- high business intentions;
- Advisory transformation possible;
- Affiliate marketing space.
Next, I will not increase advertising space in large quantities for revenue, nor will I use blogs as advertising stations.
The route that is more suitable for me is:
Real Technical Practice Content + Natural Alliance Recommendation + High Value Consulting Service + Small Display Ads.
This route is slower, but more suitable for a long-running personal tech blog.
In the future, I will take this analysis as the first version of the practice guidance, starting with the VPN / Wireguard / VPS series, testing the marketing effect of the affiliates in a small area, and then deciding whether to expand to AI, WordPress, Linux according to the data Maintenance and other directions.
The first stage of the blog is long-term writing and technical precipitation.
From now on, I want it to enter the second stage:
Content assetization, traffic commercialization, and long-term personal brand.
