(24) Can ChatGPT Agent Replace ChatGPT Plus for WordPress English Translation Rewrites?

After evaluating the AutoPoly Pro + OpenAI API route, I started thinking about another possibility:

Since I am already using ChatGPT Plus, can I use ChatGPT Agent directly to automate my WordPress English rewrite and translation workflow?

The background behind this idea is very practical.

In theory, AutoPoly Pro + OpenAI API is closer to a real automation workflow, but it also runs into several practical issues:

Plaintext
AutoPoly Pro
OpenAI API
OpenAI API
API Key

ChatGPT Agent, on the other hand, looked like it might be able to bypass these problems.

I already have ChatGPT Plus. If Agent could help me handle copying, translating, pasting, and saving drafts, then at least in the short term it might reduce the repetitive work involved in my current WordPress English article workflow.

So I ran a real-world test.

1. What I Originally Wanted Agent to Solve

My current WordPress English translation workflow looks like this:

Plaintext

ChatGPT Plus

The quality of this workflow is fairly good, but it is still very manual.

The part that bothers me most is not the translation itself, but these repetitive operations:

Plaintext

So my initial expectation for Agent was:

Let Agent connect these browser operations and copy-paste steps for me.

Before actually letting Agent log in to WordPress, however, I decided to run a low-risk test first:

Plaintext

This would help me verify one basic question first:

Can Agent itself reliably complete an English rewrite of long-form WordPress code editor content?

2. The Agent Entry Point Was Not Where I First Expected

At first, I assumed I could type /agent directly in the ChatGPT input box, or select Agent from the tools menu.

But during the actual test, I did not find that entry point directly in the current interface.

The method that actually worked was:

Plaintext

跳转回 chatgpt.com

Figure 1: The “Try now” button on the ChatGPT Agent feature page
Figure 1: The “Try now” button on the ChatGPT Agent feature page

Figure 2: After clicking “Try now”, “Agent mode” appeared in the ChatGPT input box
Figure 2: After clicking “Try now”, “Agent mode” appeared in the ChatGPT input box

This process also reminded me of something: although ChatGPT Agent is already available to Plus users, the entry point and the actual interface may not always match the documentation or my expectations. If I ever want to include it in a fixed workflow, the stability of the entry point itself is also a small factor worth considering.

3. The Article Used in This Test

For this test, I used a relatively long WordPress technical article. Its topic was:

Plaintext

This article was a good fit for testing Agent because it was not a short, simple post. It contained a large amount of WordPress code editor content:

Plaintext
Gutenberg 区块
图片块
表格
链接
wp:kevinbatdorf/code-block-pro

This matched my real blogging scenario very well.

If Agent could handle this kind of article properly, then it would make sense to explore letting it participate further in my WordPress automation workflow.

The test method was:

Plaintext
Agent

During the comparison, I mainly looked at three areas:

Plaintext

As for the slug and Meta Description, I did not treat them as core evaluation points this time. The regular ChatGPT Plus version was copied from the WordPress backend and did not include a slug or Meta Description, so it would not be a fair direct comparison.

4. Agent Took Noticeably Longer to Process the Task

The first obvious impression was that Agent took much longer than regular ChatGPT Plus.

When regular ChatGPT Plus handles this kind of long article, there is still a wait, but it feels like the model is generating content.

Agent felt more like it was executing a task:

Plaintext

In this test, Agent even entered a terminal-like processing state. It was not simply generating an answer directly in the chat box. Instead, it treated the long text I provided as task input and continued processing it.

Figure 3: ChatGPT Agent processing the full WordPress code editor content
Figure 3: ChatGPT Agent processing the full WordPress code editor content

From the screenshot, I could see that Agent was processing a full WordPress code editor document containing wp:kevinbatdorf/code-block-pro, image blocks, HTML structure, and article body content. This also showed that it was indeed trying to parse and process the full input, rather than giving a normal conversational response only.

But the problem appeared at the same time: this approach was clearly slower, and for long-form articles, it was not necessarily more stable than regular ChatGPT Plus.

In the end, this task took about 25 minutes.

Figure 4: ChatGPT Agent completed the task and showed “Worked for 25 minutes”
Figure 4: ChatGPT Agent completed the task and showed “Worked for 25 minutes”

That was too long for my use case.

If the goal is only to complete an English rewrite of plain text, the waiting time with regular ChatGPT Plus is usually more predictable. Agent’s task-execution approach is better suited to browser operations, cross-page tasks, and workflow orchestration. It is not necessarily a good long-form article translation engine.

This made me realize one thing:

If I use Agent merely as a regular translation model, it may not be more efficient.

Agent’s strength should be browser operation, task chaining, and cross-page execution—not simply processing a large block of text.

5. Title Comparison: Agent Was Usable, but Plus Was More Complete

The title generated by Agent was:

Plaintext
Migrating from Cloudflare Free to Tencent Cloud EdgeOne: A Practical WordPress Acceleration Test

This title was usable.

It was concise, clear, and able to show that the article was about a migration test from Cloudflare Free to Tencent Cloud EdgeOne.

But the title generated by regular ChatGPT Plus was:

Plaintext
Migrating a WordPress Main Site from Cloudflare Free to Tencent Cloud EdgeOne: A Real-World CDN Acceleration Setup for China and Overseas Traffic

This title was longer, but it also contained more complete information.

It covered several key points:

Plaintext
WordPress Main Site
Cloudflare Free
Tencent Cloud EdgeOne
Real-World CDN Acceleration
China and Overseas Traffic

This was closer to the real content of the article.

The article was not merely a “WordPress acceleration test”. It was a real-world CDN migration aimed at improving access experience for both mainland China and overseas visitors.

So for the title, I prefer the regular ChatGPT Plus version.

6. Excerpt Comparison: Plus Felt Much More Like a Full-Article Summary

The excerpt generated by Agent roughly conveyed that:

Plaintext
Cloudflare Free

This excerpt was usable, but it felt more like a summary of the first half of the article.

The excerpt generated by regular ChatGPT Plus covered more of the full article and mentioned:

Plaintext
Cloudflare Free
Tencent Cloud EdgeOne

This felt much more like the excerpt of a complete technical review.

In other words, Plus did not merely translate the beginning. It understood the final scope of the entire article.

This matters a lot.

An English excerpt should not simply introduce the opening of an article. It should tell readers what problem the full article solves.

For the excerpt, Plus was clearly better.

7. Body Completeness: This Was Agent’s Biggest Problem

In this test, the most important issue was not English expression, but body completeness.

I made a simple comparison between the Agent result and the Plus result:

Plaintext
Agent 结果:
4 个 heading
32 个 paragraph
6 个 image block
12 个 code-block-pro

Plus 结果:
26 个 heading
129 个 paragraph
30 个 image block
56 个 code-block-pro

The gap was very obvious.

It showed that Agent was not merely “slightly worse at translation quality”; it did not process the full article completely.

The Agent result only covered the first part of the article. It roughly processed up to:

Plaintext
Cloudflare Free

But the important content later in the article was not fully preserved, including:

Plaintext

For a technical blog post, this is a critical problem.

Readers need the complete migration process, not just the first few sections.

8. The code-block-pro Structure Also Showed Detail-Level Risks

Besides the incomplete body content, another detail was also worth noting.

Inside the wp:kevinbatdorf/code-block-pro blocks, some textarea content in the Agent result contained literal \n strings.

For example, it looked like this:

Plaintext
WordPress + Polylang + W3 Total Cache\n

In the regular ChatGPT Plus result, the same location was closer to real line breaks:

Plaintext
WordPress + Polylang + W3 Total Cache

This difference may look small, but for code-block-pro, it is not necessarily harmless.

Inside JSON attributes, \n is normal. But inside textarea, it is better to preserve real line breaks.

If line breaks inside textarea are turned into literal \n strings, it may affect the code block copy button or how the editor restores the block.

This suggests that Agent is still less stable than regular ChatGPT Plus when handling complex Gutenberg / code-block-pro content.

9. Why Did Agent Have These Problems?

I think there are several possible reasons.

The first reason is that the article was too long.

When Agent processes long WordPress code editor content, it may end up handling only the first part because of task length, execution time, or context limitations.

The second reason is that Agent is not designed primarily for “complete long-text rewriting”.

It is better suited to executing tasks such as:

Plaintext

But in this test, I was effectively asking it to do something that a regular model is better at:

Plaintext

This is not Agent’s strongest use case.

The third reason is that WordPress code editor content is special in itself.

It is not ordinary Markdown, nor is it plain HTML. It is a mix of:

Plaintext
Gutenberg 注释
HTML
JSON 属性
textarea
pre.shiki
span.line

Any small change in line breaks, escaping, or structure may have real consequences.

That means this kind of task has very high requirements for output completeness and structural stability.

10. My Conclusion from This Test

After this test, my conclusion became fairly clear:

ChatGPT Agent is not yet suitable for replacing ChatGPT Plus as the main tool for long-form WordPress English translation rewrites.

The reason is not that Agent lacks English ability. The issue is that in this specific scenario, it has several obvious problems:

Plaintext
ChatGPT Plus

For me, the most unacceptable issue is the incomplete body content.

If the translation is slightly stiff, I can still polish it manually. But if body content is missing, the article becomes unusable.

11. Agent May Still Be Useful in Other Parts of the Workflow

Although this test failed, I do not think ChatGPT Agent has no value at all for this workflow.

It is not suitable as a “long-form translation engine”, but it may be useful for these tasks in the future:

Plaintext
Draft

In other words, Agent is better suited to browser operations and workflow orchestration than to directly handling a full translation.

A more reasonable division of labor might be:

Plaintext
普通 ChatGPT Plus

ChatGPT Agent

Even in that direction, however, I would need to be very careful.

Letting Agent log in to the WordPress backend involves permissions and security risks.

If I continue testing this later, I would consider creating a separate WordPress user:

Plaintext
用户名:agent-translator
角色:Editor

Also, all operations should only save drafts. Automatic publishing should not be allowed.

12. The More Realistic Workflow for Now

Based on this test, I will not include Agent in my main translation workflow for now.

The more realistic and more reliable workflow is still:

Plaintext

ChatGPT Plus

Although this workflow is manual, it currently has several advantages:

Plaintext
OpenAI API

From an efficiency perspective, it is not the most automated solution.

But at the current stage, it is the most stable solution.

13. How I Would Adjust Future Agent Tests

If I continue testing ChatGPT Agent later, I will not ask it to process an extremely long WordPress code editor document directly.

I would change the test into smaller and more clearly defined tasks.

For example, the first type of task:

Plaintext

The second type of task:

Plaintext
Draft

The third type of task:

Plaintext

That would better match Agent’s role: performing operations, not generating extremely long content.

14. Current Conclusion

This test gave me a clearer understanding of the boundaries of ChatGPT Agent.

It looks very suitable for automation, but that does not mean it is suitable for every automation task.

For my WordPress English translation workflow:

Plaintext

These tasks are still better handled by regular ChatGPT Plus rather than Agent.

Agent is more likely to be useful later as an “operation assistant”, helping me handle repetitive backend steps such as copying, pasting, and saving drafts.

So my current conclusion is:

ChatGPT Agent cannot currently replace ChatGPT Plus for my WordPress English rewrite and translation workflow. It can remain a future automation direction, but it is not suitable as the main translation workflow for long-form technical articles.

Although this test did not achieve the ideal workflow, it was not a waste of time.

At least it helped me avoid one wrong direction: I should not treat Agent as a stronger translation model. Its real potential value is in automating the browser-operation steps of an already stable manual workflow.
