The background of the experiment
After completing the multi-round optimization of WordPress, I made a key adjustment to the site:
- Old theme: Hueman
- New Topic: Twenty Twenty-Five (WordPress 2025 official theme)
Site size:
- About 2000+ articles
- 18,000+ tags
- Chinese + English bilingual structure
Target of this test:
Quantize the impact of topic switching on website performance and establish baseline data for subsequent CDN launches.
2. Old theme Hueman performance (baseline data)
🌐 Domestic Dial (BOCE)
📊 Core data:
- Average response time:4.493s
- Fastest node: 0.07s
- Slowest node: 10s
- Telecom Average: 4.359s
- Moving Average: 5.198s
- Unicom average: 3.833s
👉 Features:
- Significant difference between operators
- 10-second latency of access in some areas
🌍 Overseas Visit (WebPageTest)
📊 Core metrics:
- ttfb:1.499s
- FCP: 2.706s
- LCP: 3.106s
- CLS: 0.127
- SPEED INDEX: 3.353
- Fully loaded: 12.73s
- Number of requests: 101
🧠 Problem analysis:
1️⃣ High number of requests (101)
→ Too many resources are split
2️⃣ LCP High (3.1s)
→ The first screen rendering is slower
3️⃣ Long load time (12.7s)
→ JS/CSS/ font link longer

3. New theme Twenty Twenty-Five performance
📸 Figure 1: BOCE national speed test results

📊 Domestic visit performance:
- Average response:4.78s
- Telecom: 4.24s
- Mobile: 4.81s
- Unicom: 5.31s
- Slowest node: 10s
🧠 Interpretation:
- The whole country is still affected by the network structure
- Theme optimization has limited impact on domestic networks
Figure 3: Overview of WebPageTest

🌍 Core metrics:
- ttfb:0.668s
- FCP: 2.053s
- LCP: 2.261s
- CLS: 0.066
- Speed Index: 2.353
- Total Load: 8.601s
- Number of requests: 76
🧠 Analyze:
✔ TTFB (0.668s)
→ Entered the excellent section (<1s)
✔ LCP (2.26s)
→ Up to Google Recommended (<2.5s)
✔ CLS (0.066)
→ Excellent page layout stability
✔ Decrease in the number of requests (101 → 76)
→ The theme structure is significantly lighter
Figure 4: Request Table Analysis

🧩 Resource structure changes:
- Decrease in CSS quantity
- js calls are reduced
- Font loading is more concentrated
- The image loading path is clearer
👉 Description:
The page resource link has been significantly optimized
🌊 Network loading path analysis (based on request table)
This analysis is based on the request table for resource loading path restoration:
- HTML first byte save 0.7s
- CSS/JS parallel loading
- There is a time-consuming independent connection of font resources
- Image resource loading is scattered
- Total request link about 70–100 resources
👉 Conclusion:
Page performance bottlenecks are mainly focused on ‘number of resources + network round trip’, rather than server processing capacity
Four, Hueman vs Twenty Twenty-Five comparison
| Index | hueman | Twenty Twenty-Five | Variety |
|---|---|---|---|
| ttfb | 1.499s | 0.668s | 🔽 Significantly optimized |
| LCP | 3.106s | 2.261s | 🔽 Clearly optimized |
| CLS | 0.127 | 0.066 | 🔽 more stable |
| Load time | 12.73s | 8.60s | 🔽 Greatly optimized |
| requests | 101 | 76 | 🔽 25% reduced |
| speed index | 3.35 | 2.35 | 🔽 faster |
The core conclusion
🧠 1️⃣ The theme optimization effect is obvious
From Hueman → Twenty Twenty-Five:
- The first screen loads faster
- Reduced number of requests
- Rendering path is shorter
- The page structure is lighter
👉 Conclusion:
WordPress official 2025 theme is significantly better than older themes Hueman
🧠 2️⃣ The current bottleneck has changed
Before optimization:
Server Performance + Theme Structure Issues
After optimization:
🌍 Network Distribution + Global Access Delay Issues
🧠 3️⃣ CDN online necessity judgment
Current status:
✔ Optimized part:
- TTFB has been excellent
- LCP has reached the standard
- CLS has been excellent
❗ Unresolved problems:
- Overseas load time still 8s+
- Domestic cross-operator fluctuations are large
- Resources are still all returned to the source
👉 Conclusion:
CDN has entered the ‘necessary stage’ rather than ‘optional optimization’
6. CDN Next experimental plan
This data as:
📌 CDN pre-launch baseline data (Baseline)
The next step will proceed:
🚀 Step 1: Access Cloudflare CDN
- DNS switching
- static resource cache
- bypass wp-admin
🚀 Step 2: Repeat the test
Stay exactly the same:
- same page
- Same WebPageTest node (OHIO)
- Same Boce Configuration
🚀 Step 3: Comparative analysis
Highlights:
- Does TTFB drop?
- Is LCP improved?
- Whether the domestic is affected
- Fully loaded
7. Tool description (optional affiliate marketing points)
Tools used for this test:
- webpagetest(Overseas real browser simulation)
- BOCE website speed measurement(Domestic multi-node dial test)
👉 The CDN plan involves:
- cloudflare(to be verified online)
8. Summary
This test completes a key stage of WordPress optimization:
✔ The theme optimization has been completed
✔ Performance bottleneck has shifted from ‘server/theme’ to ‘cdn distribution’
🧠 Summary in one sentence
The front-end performance of WordPress has entered a stable stage, and the next step is to optimize the CDN and global distribution network.
